The helpdesk agent is split

The widget itself is free. Its appearance, home tab, help articles, and contact form all work without a license. What Pro adds is the part that thinks: conversation mode, the pages it can read for context, the custom instructions that shape its answers, and the popular topics on the home tab.
A free install can select Conversation in the mode dropdown, but the endpoint that produces the answers is Pro. Use Contact mode on free.

Costs after Pro

A license unlocks the connectors. It does not include AI usage. Each provider bills you directly for what you send them. What that costs depends entirely on which features you enable and how much you use them.
Toxicity checking, alt text, related posts, smart compose, the summary button, and the page agent never call a paid API.
Copilot conversations, generated posts, generated images, and meta descriptions each send a request to your provider. Generated images are the most expensive item by a wide margin.
Helpdesk conversation mode is the one to watch, because your visitors, not you, decide how often it runs. Set a spending limit in the provider dashboard before enabling it on a busy site.
Pro is sold as the DaftPlug membership rather than as a single-plugin upgrade. One license covers Generatify and every other DaftPlug Pro plugin, and plans differ only in the number of site activations.
