Generatify has a lot of switches. This page picks a path through them, starting with what works immediately and moving to what needs a provider.

1. Turn on what costs nothing

Go to Generatify > Settings. These four need no API key and no license, so there is no reason not to try them.
1

Content Moderation > AI Toxicity Checker

Blocks insults, threats, and hate speech in comments before they are submitted. The model runs in the commenter’s browser, so it adds no load to your server.
2

Automations > AI Alt Images

Fills in alt text for images that have none, by recognizing what is in the picture. Good for accessibility and for image search.
3

Smart Suggestions > AI Related Posts

Adds related post cards at the end of each post. Set the section title, description, and how many to show.
4

Smart Suggestions > AI Content Summary

Adds a button that opens ChatGPT with a prompt about the post. Readers get a summary, and your site stays the source it cites.
Smart Compose and the AI page agent are already on by default. Look at your front end before changing anything else, so you know what visitors are currently seeing.

2. Set up the visitor-facing agents

Go to Settings > Agents. The AI page agent is on by default and sits in the bottom-left corner. Set its Primary Color to match your site, or move it if it collides with something. The AI helpdesk agent is off. Turn it on if you answer the same questions repeatedly. Fill in the home title, tagline, and button text, add your Help Articles, and choose a Mode: Start with Contact. It works immediately, and the messages it collects tell you what the conversation mode should be trained to answer.

3. Connect a provider

Everything above works without one. The copilot, content generation, meta descriptions, and helpdesk conversations do not.
1

Get an API key

Pick one provider to start. See choosing a provider if you are not sure which.
2

Enter it

Go to Settings > Connectors, enable the provider, and paste the key. The field validates the format before saving.
3

Check it worked

Go to Generatify > Chatbot. The model selector at the bottom should now list your provider instead of No AI Model Available.
You are billed by the provider, not by DaftPlug. Set a spending limit in the provider’s dashboard before you start, so an unexpected loop cannot run up a bill.

4. Try the copilot

Go to Generatify > Chatbot and ask it something about your own site, such as “what did I publish last month?” or “find posts that mention shipping”. Then ask it to change something, and watch what happens: it describes the change and waits. Nothing is written until you confirm.

Working with the copilot

What it can read, what it can change, and how approvals work.

5. Generate a post

With a provider connected, open the post editor and select Generate with AI. Describe the article, then choose which parts to generate: title, content, featured image, tags, and categories.

Generating content

Writing a brief that produces something you would publish.

What to leave off at first

Only useful in browsers that support WebMCP, and it opens a read path into your content plus, on WooCommerce, add-to-cart. Read browser AI tools before enabling it on a store.
If you already run an SEO plugin that writes meta descriptions, turning this on gives you two systems writing the same field.
Generate one post and read it end to end before generating more. The quality depends heavily on your brief, and you want to learn that on one post rather than twenty.
